The Best Darn MUD I've ever played!

If you're a MUDder, you'll wanna check out this game. It is called 2002's Eternal Darkness, listed on mudconnector as 2001s Eternal Darkness, but we just call it Eternal Darkness or ED. There is no pk, except in certain rooms that are marked pkill rooms, but pretty much restricted to the battlefield. The imms are really cool and active. They do some really nifty quests. There was a Valentine's one where you found candy and roses and stuff for QPs. There's an Easter Egg Hunt coming up and a Saint Patty's day one I dunno, possibly Leprocaun hunting. I know I spelled that wrong. Anyway, you are allowed to spam skills/spells in order to improve them and even allowed to bot for the purpose of improving stuff, provided you are not doing it to gain experience. The only tedious part is stat rolling. Incidentally, if you happen to be beta testing...well alpha testing...VIP Mud, contact me and I might be able to help with some scripts my fiance wrote, if he doesn't mind passing them around, which I doubt he will. Oh yeah, and they let you have three characters on at one time so you can create multiple. I recommend starting with one but when u get familiar with the game, create a couple more. There's lots to do and loads of cool people. Like any MUD, it has its jerks, but overall I'd say it's really cool. It also has remorting and for each remort you gain dragon level 1-9, eternal dragon, titan level 1-9 and eternal titan, growing ever more powerful with each remort. It costs a lot of gold but gold isn't that hard to come by in that game. If you wanna check it out, I recommend starting as TriKreen Monk and the connection info is:

Host: ed.wolfpaw.net
Port: 9700

If you want/need help with anything, you can mail me or send me a tell as either zhuuraan or phailos. If I'm online, and at my computer, I have SAPI reading my tells. If not, mail is a surefire way to get me. Have fun and come check it out! We want more blindies!

Just to give an idea how easy gold is. Remorts cost 500 million, but as you progress, you will find mobs that drop over 100,000 and even some around 500,000 gold. There are also treasures where you can find a million or two. I did the pirate ship, a highish level area, and killed the skipper to get his treasure of 2000000 gold. I have also killed the goblin chieftain in Mo-Mur and gotten his treasure of 1,000,000 gold. So, it may take a while, but it's definitely not too hard to come by.

dos this have a sound pac with it? Also, another good mud that I have been on for a little over four months is miriani. This mud has a sound pack with it. The host is toastsoft.net, and the ports are 1234, 1236, and 5190. U can use either of these ports, it doesn't matter. If u need help getting started on it, contact me on here, on by email, or on the game, look for blake madison.

I'm currently trying mozartmud.
mozartmud.com port 4500
It's a medievally influenced fantasy type mud. That's all I know about it for now. LOL. I haven't done too much exploring yet, but the people on there are pretty helpful. I like it when muds are newbie friendly.

There is no sound pack to my knowledge. Maybe I will work on one. As far as I know, there aren't many blindies on there but it's an awesome mud and extremely newbie friendly. In fact, many people have expressed to me a desire to see more newbies. They average 20-30 players on at once but at one time was over 100, much like Miriani. I have played that one too but it was annoying cuz I joined the alliance everyone was bashing and I couldn't switch due to the wars. Hehe might go back on there sometime but trying to get my first remort on ED. Come and check it out if you want! I'll see if I can't do a sound pack.

O yes I was going to say also, I use SAPI for a lot of things. Chats, tells, fiance uses for hunger and thirst and if a skill/spell improves. We have an autoprac trigger as well as auto reroll. We can make SAPI announce pretty much anything. If you want the sound pack for entertainment purposes, I will still work on it, but if it is so that you know what's going on, I can pass triggers around. If you know anything about them, you might be able to convert the VIP mud triggers to your client. I'll see about the sound pack thing though.

Okay I'm off zone for now. Trying to figure out what to do sound packs for. Might take me a while but i will do it.

I would like to also find some kind of historical muds to play, from wars or whatever

I have also been playing a lot of mozartmud. It is pretty cool but not nearly as easy to do well on. I mean I am only level 25 of 99 on there. I like both MM and ED and I play both of them. I have lately been playing a lot more MM just cuz it's new but I like ED because of three things

1, Since you can have three characters, you don't need someone else to group and can kill bigger stuff than solo.
2. It doesn't take much to get strong on that game, at least not strong enough to handle some stuff. There are still many zones that you must have remorted a few times to handle but it still has plenty of stuff non remorted characters can do.

3. Since you can remort so much, you have the potential to grow ever stronger, even if you have gotten to the "limit" of levels, which by the way I'm not sure of anyway. You gain invul power (makes you take less damage) spell power (makes your spells more powerful each remort) and haste (makes you have a chance at extra attacks) for each remort you do.

They are both great and I'd recommend either of them to you guys.

Post 11 by zhuuraan (Account disabled) on Thursday, 20-Mar-2008 16:18:26

Tirok, k I will watch for the name. About to get on there now. Oh and if you can try to be on tomorrow for the Easter Egg hunt. Good way to get QPs, specially as newbie.

I found a mud everyone might like. It's a mud that was developed by iron realms entertainment. This is a great mud and they have other games like atchea, and other games like that. Check them out at iron realms.com or something like that. Anyway, atoelia, this mud is in a dark fantacy world. It's newbie friendly and there is an incredibley complex combat system. There is also very deep pvp. That's all for now, need to get on there and get more experence.

I tried achaea. the game itself is really good but the people are jerks. haven't tried any other iron realms games though.

I've gotten bored and started playing. it's alright. I mean. I've died about 12 times as a newbie, but it is fun. my user name is leeum if people want to hang out or what ever.
note the spelling of leeum please.

Post 17 by Coldshadow (supreme commander of the shadow fleet) on Saturday, 22-Mar-2008 19:14:06

hmm if anyone knows of any psy-fy types of muds, I'd like to find those as well as some historical and something good in shadowrunners

Post 18 by zhuuraan (Account disabled) on Monday, 24-Mar-2008 6:21:23

I did know of a Star Wars mud that used to be good but it's gone to crap ever since the purge last november. before that it was a good game that I had a level 80 character land and space. I'd like to find a Stargate based one but doubt that.

Post 19 by Coldshadow (supreme commander of the shadow fleet) on Tuesday, 25-Mar-2008 17:50:29

I'd also like to find a battlestar galactica mud if any are out there

Post 20 by zhuuraan (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 25-Mar-2008 21:51:54

Go to mudconnector. There is a mud that is a compilation of multiple sci-fi shows/movies, star wars, babylon 5, star trek, etc. Not sure if it has any battlestar gallactica but possibly. It's called wormhole mud. search for wormhole and you should find it. I haven't tried it but am considering hopping on to see what it's like.

Post 21 by Coldshadow (supreme commander of the shadow fleet) on Wednesday, 26-Mar-2008 16:12:24

hmmm I tried that one once, could never figure it out

Post 22 by zhuuraan (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 26-Mar-2008 20:32:40

I haven't tried it so wouldn't know. I am really happy though because I have something to look forward to. I have been asked to become an immortal on a mud once I get more familiarized with it. I am going to make a TBA zone for said mud and if I become an imm, the TBA zone will be implemented as my first! W00T!

Post 23 by Coldshadow (supreme commander of the shadow fleet) on Thursday, 27-Mar-2008 18:12:26

sweet, what mud is it?

Post 24 by zhuuraan (Account disabled) on Friday, 28-Mar-2008 0:51:44

Mozartmud. And I am also going to have an idea possibly implemented on there too! Woot! That'll look good for possibly becoming a builder to already have an idea put in. I still dunno if it will but the imm I told seemed to really like it, enough that he told me to email it to him off game so he doesn't forget it.

Post 25 by Coldshadow (supreme commander of the shadow fleet) on Saturday, 29-Mar-2008 20:47:05

heh hmmmm I need to find something similar to firefly/serenity

Post 26 by blake (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 20-Apr-2008 11:22:07

I tried Mozart Mud. I enjoyed it, until I went into an area where I froze. I tried to get my equipment back, but I froze to death again. So I'm not sure when I will play that mud again. But, there are thousands of muds out there. Wow! I just realized I have ben mudding for over 10 years! *gets out the cake and ice cream*
Are there any mud clients that use SAPI to read the screen?

Post 27 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 20-Apr-2008 19:41:30

I think Monkey term does, but U need the monkeylib.exe file, which is no problem to get. Just tell it that u want sappy as your script.

Post 28 by blake (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 27-Apr-2008 13:56:07

For anyone who wants to use a screen reader or SAPI to play muds with MonkeyTerm. There is a free tutorial about setting up MonkeyTerm for screen readers/SAPI at
http://www.aarontech.randylaptop.com/games/muds/monkeyterm/msetup/msetup2.html
Although I could not find the link on Sean's main site due to site redesign, I located the MonkeyTerm tutorial using Google. Note: I have heard that the program can work with Vista, but The tutorial is for Windows XP and earlier.
